What should I do if a tree falls on my house?

Often when a tree damages a covered structure. Coverage varies, so check your policy. We can provide photos and a description of the work.

Tree Removal

Do I need a permit to remove a tree?

Many Georgia cities and counties regulate removal of larger or specimen trees, especially inside city limits like Atlanta. Rules vary by jurisdiction, so we recommend confirming with your local arborist or planning office before work starts.

Will you grind the stump too?

Stump grinding is a separate service we can add to the same visit. Ask for it when you request your estimate.

Tree Trimming

How often should trees be trimmed?

Most mature shade trees benefit from trimming every three to five years. Fast-growing trees near homes may need attention more often.

What is the difference between trimming and pruning?

Trimming usually focuses on clearance and appearance. Pruning targets the health and structure of the tree, like removing deadwood or crossing branches.

Tree Pruning

When is the best time to prune in Georgia?

Late winter, before spring growth, is ideal for most species. Dead or hazardous limbs can be removed any time of year.

Is topping a tree okay?

No. Topping creates weak regrowth and decay. We use crown reduction instead.

Emergency Tree Removal

Should I call my insurance first?

Document the damage with photos, then call. Many policies cover removal when a tree hits a covered structure. We can provide photos and a written description of the work.

Can you remove a tree touching power lines?

Trees in contact with energized lines must be handled by the utility first. Once lines are safe, we take care of the rest.

Storm Damage Tree Removal

Is a leaning tree after a storm dangerous?

A tree that is newly leaning, especially with lifted soil on one side, can fail. Keep people away and have it assessed.

Fallen Tree Removal

Can you leave the wood for firewood?

Yes. We can cut logs to length and stack them where you like.

Tree Cutting

Is tree cutting cheaper than full removal?

Smaller trees with open access usually cost less. We give a firm price after seeing the trees.

Stump Grinding

How deep do you grind?

Typically 4 to 8 inches below grade, deeper when you plan to replant in the same spot.

What is the difference between grinding and stump removal?

Grinding leaves the deep roots to decay. Full stump removal pulls out the root ball, which is more disruptive but clears the area completely.

Stump Removal

Do I need full stump removal or grinding?

For lawns and garden beds, grinding is usually enough. For construction footprints, full removal is often required.

Hazardous Tree Removal

How do I know if a tree is hazardous?

Look for dead limbs, cracks, fungus, root damage, and new lean. If a large tree could reach your house and shows these signs, have it inspected.

Dead Tree Removal

Why do so many pines die in Georgia?

Drought stress, southern pine beetles, and Ips beetles are common causes. Once a pine turns brown it is usually beyond saving.

Large Tree Removal

What affects large tree removal cost?

Height, trunk diameter, distance to structures, power lines, backyard access, and whether wood is hauled all affect price.

Residential Tree Services

Do you work in backyards with limited access?

Yes. We plan for gates, slopes, and tight spaces and protect lawns where possible.

Commercial Tree Services

Do you offer recurring maintenance?

Yes. Ask about a scheduled plan for your property.

Land Clearing

Do I need permits for land clearing?

Larger disturbances can require land disturbance or erosion control permits in Georgia. Check with your county before clearing.

Lot Clearing

Can you save some trees on the lot?

Yes. Tell us which trees to keep and we will work around them.

Brush Clearing

Will brush grow back?

Some species like privet and kudzu resprout. Follow-up treatment or mowing helps keep them under control.

Tree Limb Removal

Can one limb be removed without hurting the tree?

Yes, when cut properly at the branch collar the tree can seal the wound naturally.

Tree Debris Cleanup

What happens to the debris?

Most is chipped into mulch. Logs may be hauled or left as firewood if you want them.

Preventive Tree Maintenance

How often should trees be inspected?

For large trees near homes, every one to three years and after major storms is a good rule.
